Alex Wood threw a “Bad Kershaw” in his Arizona start last time he was on the bump, well he followed that up with a “Good Kershaw” start tonight, Wood threw 8 shutout innings, exhibiting his best command as a Dodgers, he only struck out 5, but he also only threw 78 pitches, I am very upset at the fact that he was not allowed to compete for a “Maddux” because that would have been quite cool. He did only allow one hit, dominating the Rockies so it’s hard to complain about that.

Regardless A.J. Ellis is having an incredible season as the backup catcher, that tandem the Dodgers have has to be one of the best in the national league, their production basically flip flopped from what it was last season, Ellis hit a solo dinger to put the Dodgers up 1-0 in the 2nd.

Corey Seager then gave the Dodgers insurance that they didn’t really need singling home Austin Barnes in the 6th inning, the youth movement is in full effect, and the infield looks to have legitimate talent for a pretty decent amount of time.

This is the best Wood start of the season, and hopefully he can carry that into the postseason because he has the most upside of the non-Kershaw/Greinke starters, so a good Wood would be good! Oh and Kenley Jansen is just having one of the best seasons in the majors, his FIP is down to 2.10, and I feel like the game is over whenever he’s on the mound. It’s nice.

So overall, good win, the magic number is down to 10, so the Dodgers could conceivably clinch in 5 days, life is good, y’all.
