After an entire day and night of pleading for the Dodgers to try WINNING INSTEAD OF LOSING, the Dodgers listened, winning 4-1 against the Diamondbacks who are turning out to be quite the pesky force.

Zack Greinke was scratched before the start, creating a general sense of fatalism among the fanbase, but luckily the bullpen held everything down admirable with the only run coming on a Paul Goldschmidt home run (which shouldn’t really count because they’re so common) in the 2nd inning. Carlos Frias pitched 4 innings throwing 75% strikes. He is helping clinch right now but might be a factor in terms of pitching for a playoff spot.

Chase Anderson basically shut down the Dodgers, striking out 10 over 6 innings, he’s had a couple games where he’s just killed the team, and tonight was one of those nights, everything after Chase Utley‘s leadoff home run was a struggle for the team until the Arizona bullpen saved the day. Chase Utley, Dodger hero, doubled in Jimmy Rollins (after Rollins drag bunted for a hit earlier in the inning) to make the score 2-1 and was a pretty insurmountable lead considering Kenley Jansen, but Corey Seager did exactly what Corey Seager does nowadays:

Murder Lefties

He hit a dinger off of Matt Reynolds to bring his season high wOBA to .450 in 81 PA’s. I’ll say it right now, if he’s not starting in some capacity during the playoffs, the team has utterly failed. He is good a baseball.

Otherwise, Kenley Jansen shut the door for another save on this excellent season he is having. Ian Thomas, Pedro Baez, Luis Avilan, Chris Hatcher, and the aforementioned Jansen tossed 5 innings of scoreless ball, only allowing 4 hits which is pretty pretty good, i’ll take that outcome every time.

Oh also the Giants lost so the magic number is down to 5.

I hope the Dodgers freaking clinch before going into San Fransico.
