The Dodgers look to rebound in game two against San Diego.

Last night’s game was one of those games. The Dodgers offense looked mostly sharp. 13 hits is usually a good sign. Turning those 13 hits into two runs is not. Julio Urias struggled and still turned in a good performance, but the bullpen couldn’t make the two runs hold up.

The Dodgers have another chance at the Padres today.

Dodgers Starter

Rich Hill gets his second start of the season for the Dodgers. Hill was originally supposed to start in Colorado, but after his start was rained out at the last minute, the Dodgers decided to push him back rather than make him get loose again. His curveball and Coors Field was probably a bad combination anyways, but some did seem concerned with his blister. Seems like it’s fine.

Hill’s Dodger debut couldn’t have gone much better. He held the Giants to five hits and no runs in six innings. He had some rough luck early on in the game with some weak singles, but it balanced out when the Giants hit like three outs to the warning track. Hill has a 2.09 ERA in 82 innings this year, giving the Dodgers a very potent 1-2 punch when Clayton Kershaw returns.

Padres Starter

Luis Perdomo gets the ball for the Padres. Great news for LA, as Perdomo throws the ball with his right hand. Perdomo began the season in the bullpen but has been a starter for the last couple months. In 15 starts, Perdomo has a 4.71 ERA and a 1.512 WHIP. His overall numbers, including relief appearances, are much worse thanks to his major league debut against the Dodgers, when he gave up six runs in an inning.

Despite mediocre overall numbers, Perdomo has been great of late. Two outings ago, he allowed an unearned run in seven innings against the Diamondbacks. He followed that up with a one-run complete game against the Marlins in his last outing. He started against the Dodgers in July at Petco and held them to two runs in six innings.

Dodgers Lineup

Seems like Yasiel Puig‘s role will lean more towards a platoon. He started last night against a lefty, but Josh Reddick is in there today against a righty. Puig left a few runners on base, but hit the ball hard and had a clean single (and a very generously-called single). Hopefully, Puig’s return lights a spark under Reddick, who’s struggled during his Dodger tenure.

Corey Seager is in the middle of an 0-13 since being hit on the wrist in Colorado. He’s healthy enough to play, so he’s in there.

Next: Jose De Leon to Start Sunday

The Giants beat the Cubs this afternoon, so the Dodgers need a win to remain two up in the West.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:10 PST and will be shown on Sportsnet LA.
