To keep Russell Martin or not to keep Russell Martin: That is the question…..

AJ PIERZYNSKI:

Pierzynski is an all around good veteran catcher. Though his power numbers were down from last season (only 9 homeruns) he still posted a .270 batting average. His career batting average is .284 and he has decent power numbers for a catcher (120 career homeruns and over 600 career RBIS) AJ played on the 2005 World Series Champion White Sox, along with current Dodgers Jon Garland and Juan Uribe. Expect him to post some good numbers next year. (My prediction would be .280 11 homeruns and 65 RBIS.) He is a good defense catcher and can bring a lot of veteran experience to the Dodgers ballclub.

ROD BARAJAS:

Barajas brings a power bat to the position of catcher. He has hit 10+ homeruns in six of the seven seasons. Last season, Rod was traded from the Mets to the Dodgers and showed his true Dodger Blue. In 25 games he batted .297 with five homeruns and 13 RBIS. Barajas is also a World Series champion with the 2001 Arizona Diamondbacks. He hit a homerun in the 2001 World Series against the New York Yankees. Expect Barajas to post some power numbers this season. (.250 15 homerun is 58 RBIS is my prediction.)

The focus of this article is whether the Dodgers should keep Russell Martin or go after someone else. Of course the lifeblood of this blog is you the fans. Should Russell Martin stay with the Dodgers? Comment on this post to let me know. Personally I feel he should either stay as the backup of go somewhere else. He is a good catcher but with the surgeries he has received, his future could be in doubt with LA.
