One of the best young cores in baseball

Many teams go through periods of contention followed by several seasons of rebuilding their next title-contending core.  As Dodger fans, we are very lucky as the Dodgers have been excellent at drafting and developing players to re-tool on the fly rather than rebuild.  As veterans like Clayton Kershaw and Justin Turner near the end of their careers, many young players have stepped up.

In the rotation, there is Walker Buehler, Julio Urias, Dustin May, and Tony Gonsolin among others who have come up and given the Dodgers plenty of excellent outings.  Then there is more on the way with pitchers such as Mitchell White, Dennis Santana, and Josiah Gray all rising through the ranks of the farm system.  That is only at the top of the minor league system too.

Then there is the core of position players.  Corey Seager, Cody Bellinger, and Joc Pederson have all been up in the big leagues for years but there are plenty of youngsters who have already shown what they can do and more are on the way.  Will Smith, Alex Verdugo, Matt Beaty, and Gavin Lux all made contributions to the Dodgers in 2019 and will do so for many more seasons to come.
