One of the best rivalries in Major League Baseball turns a new chapter in primetime on Sunday Night Baseball.

The San Diego Padres host the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are at the top of the NL West entering this game. San Diego is in third place, two games behind Los Angeles.

Joe Musgrove (1-0, 10.80 ERA) will make his third start of the season for the Padres, and he’s struggled early on this season despite the team winning both of his starts.

Lefty Julio Urias (4-3, 3.86 ERA) gets the ball for the Dodgers in his eighth start of the 2023 season.

Here’s a look at the odds and my best bet for this matchup.

Dodgers vs. Padres prediction and pick

The Dodgers’ bullpen has been surprisingly shaky to start this season, but I’m trusting Urias and company to get the win on Sunday night.

Musgrove has struggled since returning to action, allowing 10 runs and 13 hits in just 8.1 innings of work. He’s also allowed four homers in those two games as well.

This isn’t to say Urias has been perfect this season, but he turned things around in his last outing. After allowing 11 runs over two straight starts, Urias tossed a gem, seven innings of one-run ball (with 10 Ks) against the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Padres have been solid against lefties this season (eighth in OPS), but Urias is one of the best left handers in all of baseball.

I think he gets the job done on the road on Sunday.
