Well 7.5 games is suddenly the reality of the NL West thanks to prospect Scott Schebler. The young OF hit a home run and a single, with 2 stolen bases and a beautiful catch to rob Justin Upton of at least extra bases.

This series has been mostly a showcase of the youth within the dodgers organization, with Corey Seager having a big debut yesterday (he also hit a sweet double tonight to showcase that incredible swing), and I’m coooooollllllll with that!

Unfortunately Mike Bolsinger turned in one of his more “meh” starts of his season as he gave up 3 runs with the aid of 2 home runs while also walking 2, he struck out 6 in 5 innings at least so at least he isn’t Mat Latos!

The gooooood news is that the dodgers TEED off of James Shields and padres pitchers, hitting 5 total home runs. Those runs came from Carl Crawford , the aforementioned Schebler, Padre killer, Adrian Gonzalez, Justin Ruggiano, and Chase Utley. The offense is pretty good imo, they lead the NL in home runs by a mile and that’s something I can’t complain about.

The one thing that should be noted is that Yimi Garcia HAS to be the setup man. He’s throwing more sliders than ever, and while that’s bad for his elbow, his results will probably benefit, he’s easily the second most reliable member of the bullpen right now and there’s something to be said about consistency in this bullpen, his FIP is down to 3.21, I’m excited about his prospects to be a good arm in the bullpen going forward.

If there’s one bummer, it’s Yasmani Grandal. He has gone through a prolonged slump, bad enough to where I’m questioning his status on the active roster, his wRC+ is down to 128, I really hooope he gets sat down for a few days cause A.J. Ellis is a capable starter right now. Regardless the team is sitting pretty with the magic number down to 21.

Soon!
