After an electric walk off last night, the Dodgers look for their second win in the series against the Mets tonight.
Trayce Thompson sent Dodger fans to bed with smiles last night when he came up in the bottom of the ninth inning and crushed a home run. The Dodgers then evened the series at one win each. Tonight in game three of the four game series, they hope to come out with the W again.
Kenta Maeda will be sent to the mound for the 7:10 PM start. Maeda is coming into tonight’s game with a record of 3-1 and an ERA of 1.66. “King Kenta” as fans have nicknamed him, is quickly becoming one of the Dodgers most reliable pitchers. Every five days when he gets the ball on the mound it is almost like Dodger fans can take a deep breath and feel like they have a good chance. He has shined so far and kept his composure in every start so far. This will be his first start against the New York Mets.
The Mets will be sending Noah Syndergaard to the mound, AKA Thor. He is entering tonight’s game with a record of 2-2 and an ERA of 2.58. Not going to lie, of all pitchers, Syndergaard scares me. The 23 year-old is a dominant pitcher who throws a sinker, slider, curve, fourseam fastball, and change according to Brooks Baseball. Though Syndergaard is clearly a great pitcher he seems to be struggling a little bit in May. So far this month, he has pitched in 11.2 innings and in those innings, he has allowed six earned runs which gives him an ERA of 4.63 this month. In 32.1 innings again the National League, Syndergaard has an ERA of 3.06. Hopefully the Dodgers can keep their bats hot and get some good hits off of him early on in the game.
Good news is Maeda is on the mound and has been nothing but fantastic in all of his starts and the Dodger bats seem to finally be awake. The boys in blue got 10 hits last night and many of those being doubles. The offense seems to have a little spark again and the Dodgers look to continue that tonight.
Chase Utley will be leading off for the boys in blue this evening. Howie Kendrick gets a start at third base which will give Justin Turner the day off. Everything else looks pretty average for a lineup put together by Dave Roberts. Last nights hero, Trayce Thompson will be sitting on the bench, but could possibly come into the game later.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 PM as Maeda and Syndergaard face off at Chavez Ravine. The game will be shown on Sports Net LA.
