Joe Torre Will Not Be Returning Next Season

Let’s face it, this year has not been a great year for many Dodgers fans. On Friday, the fans received another bit of news that could be considered disappointing: Joe Torre will no longer be the Dodgers’ skipper after this season. The team confirmed, as first reported by Yahoo! Sports and the Los Angeles Times, that Torre will not be back next season. Don Mattingly, the team’s hitting coach, will take over for Torre next season. The two men worked together when Torre was the manager for the New York Yankees, and Mattingly knows the coaching gig is no easy task, but is grateful for the opportunity nonetheless.

At 72-75, the Dodgers find themselves 11 games behind the first-place San Diego Padres, and are currently in fourth place in a division that they won a season ago. As for Torre, this season has not been a memorable one. Regardless of this terrible season, however, Torre still walks away with a great managerial resume, and should have no problem finding work—if he wants any, of course.
