Mike Scioscia Will Be Honored as a Bobblehead in 2012

The Dodgers announced six new bobbleheads for the 2012 season as a part of the Dodger Stadium Greats Series. I was super excited to see that my favorite player, Mike Scioscia, will be celebrated as a bobblehead for his Dodger career as a catcher. Mike Scioscia will actually be present at Dodger Stadium on his bobblehead night, June 12, 2012, when the Dodgers host the Angels in Interleague play. Mike Scioscia’s bobblehead will be clad in Dodger blue to commemorate his LA Dodger record of 1,394 games played as catcher. He had two World Series wins and was a two time All-Star during his 13 seasons on the Dodgers (1980-1992). Even though some may feel this nod to Scioscia is strange since he is now at the helm over in Anaheim, I’m very pleased to see him being remembered for his contributions as a Dodger.

There will be 10 bobbleheads in the series, and the Dodger have so far unveiled the following:

Maury Wills with Don Drysdale (April 28)

Orel Hershiser (May 15)

Steve Garvey, Davey Lopes, Bill Russell, and Ron Cey (May 29)

Mike Scioscia (June 12)

Tommy Lasorda and Walter Alston (July 14)

Sandy Koufax (August 7)

Fernando Valenzuela (August 21)

More Dodger Stadium Greats bobbleheads will be revealed before Opening Day. If you’re a bobblehead collector check out Dodgerbobble.com for even more bobblehead information.
