Blue Sunday News
Good Sunday to you Lasordaslairians!
It is a quiet lazy Sunday morning, and I thought I would get everyone caught up on a few minor news and notes, from the Dodger’s spring training camp, in Glendale, Arizona. We have a few bumps and bruises to report, and a couple of small moves. The Dodgers play the Brewers today in Phoenix, with Clayton Kershaw on the mound. Of course the game is not televised, because we all know that the Dodgers only televise 800 Chad Billingsley starts during the spring.
Ted Lilly and his rusty neck
So the first news to tell you about, involves starting pitcher Ted Lilly. Apparently, Lilly slept on his neck wrong or something, and he has a rusty neck. If you remember he had a rusty neck last year, before seeing an acupuncturist from the advice of his wife. It actually helped him last year, and we all remember how well he pitched down the stretch. Well, his neck is rusty again, and he will probably have to go back to the acupuncturist again. The Dodgers are thinking about swapping his and Capuano’s slots in the rotation. Since the Dodgers do have an off-day in the first week, Lilly can be pushed back to the second week, which means instead of his first start being on April 7th, it will be pushed back to April 14th. the Dodgers are still not sure if he ill be able to make his next scheduled start Tuesday against the Padres. If Lilly is unable to go, Nathan Eovaldi, would more than likely take his turn in the rotation.
Jerry Hairston’s sore throwing shoulder.
Jerry Hairston Jr. has a sore throwing shoulder. It isn’t expected to be serious, however it can effect his ability to make throws from across the diamond. Hairston is playing shortstop today, and batting lead-off. Hairston hurt the shoulder while playing for the Brewers last season, in the playoffs. He jammed it while making a head-first slide into second base. I am guessing that the injury never fully healed. The Dodgers are concerned, however the injury doesn’t bother him while he is hitting, only when he is throwing. Hairston can play all over the diamond, so this shouldn’t be too big of a problem, just don’t play him at shortstop, until his shoulder clears up. Remember Hairston can play all three outfield positions, second base, third base, and shortstop. However it appears, that shortstop is his weakest position defensively.
Blake Hawksworth moved from the 15-day DL, to the 60-day DL.
As expected eventually, the Dodgers have moved injured relief pitcher Blake Hawskworth from the 15-day DL, to the 60-day DL. This will clear up an extra spot on the 40-man roster. I am sure that Jamey Wright, and John Grabow are liking this news. Only because it increases their chances of making the opening day roster.

Clayton Kershaw vs. Shawn Marcum
Let’s all be glad this game isn’t televised, geez, look at the awful lineup above. Talk about a Sunday throw-away lineup. Good thing this is only a spring game, because that is a lineup I do not want to see. Today’s game is on at 1:05PM. Clayton Kershaw who very oddly enough, will make all of his spring starts on the road this year, for some reason, will counter Shawn Marcum for the Brewers. The game is not on TV, or radio. Expect to see Ronald Belisario, Josh Lindblom, and Scott Rice, in relief today for the Dodgers. This is a split-squad game for Milwaukee.
Speaking of Lineups, I drafted my very own today, in the I Bleed Blue private Yahoo fantasy Baseball League. The 9 team league held our online live draft today. My team which I will be running with Kenny, is called the LasordasLairians. I will be posting up regular fantasy league reports, so you all can follow along with me, as I make my first real jump into Fantasy League Baseball. I also have another public league team by the same name over at MLB.com.
My first draft pick was starting pitcher Roy Halladay. I followed him with picks of Paul Konerko, Curtis Granderson, and Matt Weiters. I will update everyone on our complete roster and starting lineups in one of our future fantasy league posts. In the meantime, let’s all bust Kenny’s balls for missing the entire draft for church. (ha ha ha JK Kenny) Isn’t he lucky I have no life? Because, if I did have a life, we would end up being stuck with crappy players like Juan Uribe, and Eugenio Velez or something. It goes without saying, that we will crush all opponents in the League. Have a great Sunday all! Go Blue.
