Welcome Back, Welcome Back, Welcome Back
Yes indeed, welcome back boys! The Dodgers return home, for the Dodger Stadium home opener, to kick off the sacred harrowed fiftieth anniversary of our beloved Dodger Stadium. The pregame festivities are sure to be fun, and Stacie and I will be there to witness it all.

Peter O’Malley, and his sister, Terry Seidler will both be on hand to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. The Beach Boys will be singing the national anthem and will be singing all throughout the year in a partnership, as the iconic music group celebrates their fiftieth anniversary as well. Also celebrating his fiftieth anniversary season of his first Dodger game is my Uncle Mark. Who attended his first Dodger game on June 30th 1962, which was Sandy Koufax’s no-hitter against the Mets. Uncle Mark also attended Sandy Koufax’s Perfect Game, and two more no-hitters during his tenure as a Dodger fan.
Most of the 1962 team will be on hand to join in on the celebration. The 1962 team finished tied with the Giants for the pennant, but lost in the best two out of three playoff series. 62’ was the year that Maury Wills stole 104 bases and won NL MVP, while Tommy Davis won the batting title, and Don Drysdale and Sandy Koufax dominated on the mound. While big D, won the NL Cy Young award, Koufax pitched a no-hitter, with Mark Landers in attendance.
Maury Wills, and Tommy Davis will both be there, along with fellow 1962 teammates, Wally Moon, Ron Perranoski, Ed Roebuck, Norm Sherry, Larry Burright, Tim Harkness, Ken McMullen, Pete Richert, Daryl Spencer and Stan Williams.
The Dodgers will also be honoring Spanish radio broadcaster Jamie Jarrin, Dodger Stadium Organist Nancy Bea Hefley, and of course, the greatest sportscaster ever…Vin Scully.
Don Drysdale’s daughter Drew, will sing god bless America during the seventh inning stretch. The military will also be on hand as well. Naval F-18’s will fly over Dodger Stadium during the pregame, and color guards from all five military branches will present the colors, and the flag before the game.
Stacie and I will be there on hand, and will be live tweeting throughout the game. We will have a special Postgame edition that will describe all of the Dodger Stadium festivities in detail. If you would like to say hello, please do, we would love to say hi to some of our readers. We will be sitting in the reserved section Aisle 23, row E.
This should be a very special season this year. However don’t take out word for it, but listen to NL MVP runner-up, and NL player of the week, Matt Kemp….
“I really think this is going to be a special year for the guys, and I hope the people come out and watch.”
