Jeff Karstens vs. Chris Capuano

Dodger’s lefty Chris Capuano will look for redemption, as the Dodgers look for their third sweep of the Pirates in their last seven meetings at Dodger Stadium. Capuano is looking to right the ship, after he tired during the fifth inning of his first start in San Diego, leading to a walkapalooza, and a five run meltdown.  Cappy has not pitched well against the Pirates in his career. The 4-7 record, and 5.99 ERA is concerning. However only one current Pirate has done anything off of him. Andrew McCutchen is 4 for 6, with an RBI. Jose Tabata, and Nate McLouth are the only current Pirates to have hit home runs off of Cappy ever.

Opposing pitcher Jeff Karstens, hasn’t pitched very well against the Dodgers either. He is 0-2 with a 5.91 ERA.  Most of the current Dodgers haven’t done much off of him either. The two Dodgers who have hit Karstens the best over the years have been James Loney who is 3 for 9, and Andre Ethier, who is 4 for 11 with a home run and 4 RBIs. Karstens is coming off a very good start against the Phillies, where he allowed just one run over six innings in a no-decision. With both pitchers historically struggling against the opposing team, which will come out victorious? Will it be push against shove?

After the series, the Dodgers will stay home and play the Padres for a three game series, while the Pirates will travel to San Francisco, for a three game set. The Dodgers have the best record in the National League right now at 5-1, with help from a soft April schedule of course. This is the first time since 1999, that the Dodgers have started the season winning five of their first six games.

The Dodgers will have to do it tonight without Vin Scully again. Vinny will miss his third game in a row, while recovering from a cold. Lets keep Vin in our thoughts again, and pray for his well being. I can’t wait to hear his beautiful voice behind the mic for Friday. Stay with us after the game, as Stacie will have a complete recap. Bust out those brooms Dodger fans! Go Blue.
