Juan Nicasio-2-1 vs. Aaron Harang-1-2
Today’s game for the Dodgers, is a rematch of the Dodgers/Rockies game from April 30. That game saw the Rockies beat the Dodgers 6-2, as Juan Nicasio beat Aaron Harang. Nicasio would go six innings allowing two runs, on nine hits, two walks, and four whiffs. Harang who was charged with the loss, pitched 5.2 that day, allowing five runs on six hits, one walk, and five whiffs. This time the rematch is at Dodger Stadium where Harang naturally pitches a lot better. His strikeout to walk ratio is more than 2-1 at Dodger Stadium, but his ERA is 4.14 and he is 1-2. He never pitches well against Colorado, posting a 5.20 ERA, and a 4-5 record. Harang does have a 9.4 career whiff per nine rate against the Rockies. Cargo is batting .500 off Harang (5 for 10) with a home run. In stark contrast, Todd Helton struggles big time against Harang, putting up a line of .174/.269/.304 (4 for 23)

The young Juan Nicasio will counter the Dodgers and Aaron Harang in game two. Nicasio is the young right hander who has come back from major neck surgery after breaking his neck during a game after being hit in the head with a line drive. Nicasio is 1-1 with a 5.94 ERA, five walks, and 13 whiffs vs. the Dodgers. His last start produced a loss, as the youngster dropped a start to the Atlanta Braves. Nicasio allowed six runs through five innings, while whiffing five in a 7-2 loss. Nicasio is hoping to recover from his recent struggles, although just seeing the guy pitch at all is quite remarkeable considering the severe extent of his career threatening neck injury. The Dodgers will need to stop pitching to Cargo, who is batting .383 against the Dodgers with 11 home runs, 38 RBIs, and an OPS of 1.132. So can we please not pitch to this guy?
