Dodgers Unleash Feastmode Upon New York, Helping Cappy to Tenth Win

Sorry for the delay today guys, we’ll  be back on schedule tomorrow. The Dodgers won their third game in a row by beating the New York Mets 8-5 in the second game of this three game series. This is the roadtrip that could make or break the Dodger’s season, as the ten game swing will bring us up to the July 31 trade deadline.

Today Chirs Capuano won his tenth game of the season by beating his former team in his former home ballpark. Even more amazing, and incredulous, Juan Uribe had two hits, a double, and a two-run home run, and drove in four of the Dodger’s eight runs. James Loney went 2 for 5 with an RBI, and Matt Kemp was 2 for 4 with an RBI triple. The Dodgers jumped out in front early by a score of 4-0 and 6-3 at one point. The Mets closed the gap to 6-5 by scoring three runs in the seventh inning. However the Dodgers scored two on Uribe’s two-run blast, to put them back up by three for good. of course don’t let Uribe’s lucky day fool you into thinking he is ya know any good at all. Remember every dog has his day, and Uribe still sucks balls. Although he did have a good game today and will get the game ball. This may be the first time he has ever received a game ball in his Dodger career.

Chris Capuano beat opposing starter Miguel Batista. Cappy wasn’t dominating, but again very effective, going seven innings, allowing three runs on eight hits, one walk and nine whiffs. Cappy made 98 pitches. Meanwhile, Batista struggled right away, and only lasted three innings, allowing four runs on five hits, three walks, and two whiffs.

The Dodgers scored one run on three walks, and a single, and left the bases loaded in the top of the first. With two outs,Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier draw back to back walks as Batista has command problems early on. Loney singles to right, scoring Kemp, and the Dodgers go up 1-0. After Uribe walks, Luis Cruz whiffs to end the inning.

The score remained the same until the top of the third, when the Dodgers plated three runs. Adam Kennedy singles. Kemp flies out. Ethier singles Kennedy to second. Loney whiffs. Uribe doubles down the right field line to score Kennedy and Ethier, and the Dodgers lead 3-0. Cruz immediately singles home Uribe, and the Dodgers tack on one more to lead 4-0. Matt Treanor, playing in place of the injured A.J. Ellis, grounds out to end things in the top of the third.

The Mets would battle back for two runs in the bottom of the third. One thing about the Mets is while they don’t have great pitching, they do score a lot of runs. Jordany Valdespin, the annoying pinch-hitter bunts for a base hit. Ruben Tejdada bloops a single in front of Bobby Abreu in left to send Valdespin to second. Cappy battles to whiff Andres Torres for the first out. The dangerous David Wright fouls out to Treanor behind the plate for the second out. Big out. Scott Hairston, Jhair’s brother, singles to right to score Valdespin, and the Dodgers lead is 4-1. Jason Bay singles home Tejada, and it’s now 4-2 Blue. Ike Davis whiffs, and Cappy gets out of the inning still up by two runs.

Jeremy Hefner comes in to replace Batista. With two outs, he allows a walk to Kennedy, and Kemp triples into the right field corner. Scott Hairston tries to dive for it, but misjudges it, and it rolls past him. The Dodgers lead 5-2 on the RBI triple.

The Mets threaten in the bottom of the fourth, but Cappy is resourceful and resilient. Ronny Cedeno doubles. Mike Nickeas singles him to third with none out. Hefner sacrifices Nickeas to second. However, Tejada whiffs. Andres Torres hits a sharp grounder right into Cappy’s glove for the third out. Phew!

The Dodgers score another run in the top of the fifth. Uribe walks, and Matt Treanor doubles him home, to put the Dodgers up 6-2. Cappy has an easy 123 inning in the bottom of the fifth. Mets Josh Edgin pitches the top of the sixth, and allows a Bison single, and that’s all. Cappy serves up a solo home run to Ronny Cedeno in the bottom of the sixth. The Dodger’s lead is now 6-3. Both teams go down in order in the seventh innings.

Move to the bottom of the eighth, where the Mets close the gap to 6-5. Ronald Belisario comes in to pitch for the Dodgers, who is usually automatic. Scott Hairston singles to center. Daniel Murphy, pinch-hitting for Tim Byrdak, triples home Murphy, and it is 6-4. Ike Davis lines out to Cruz. Kirk Nieuwenhuis grounds out to score Murphy, and the Dodgers lead is now just 6-5. Josh Thole grounds out to end the frame.

The Dodgers score two more in the top of the ninth, to put the game to bed. For the first time this year, Feastmode was unleashed. All-Star starter R.A. Dickey comes in to pitch for some reason. I am assuming that the Mets were just desperate, and that was like his bullpen session or something. I have no clue. Anyways, after Loney singles, Uribe takes a knuckleball deep into the Citi Field left field bleachers, to give the Dodgers an 8-5 lead. That would be all they would need.

Kenley Jansen comes in to close shop in the bottom of the ninth. Lucas Duda pops out. Ruben Tejada pops out. However, Torres, and Wright both walk, and we are in trouble. Scot tHairston, Jerry’s brother, represents the tying run at the plate with two outs. Jansen bears down and whiffs Jhair’s bro like a rented mule, and the Dodgers win their third in a row!

Great start to the roadtrip! Before the game we learned that A.J. Ellis is battling a sore knee. Matt Treanor started in his place, and according to the team he is day-to-day. If he does have to go on the DL, I would assume the Dodgers would call up rookie Tim Federowicz, also known as Fedex.

The Dodgers will go for the sweep tomorrow before heading to the midwest for a three game set at St.Louis. Nathan Eovaldi will take the mound for the Dodgers going for his second win. The Mets will counter with Jonathon Niese, as they try to avoid being swept. Unfortunately the annoying Giants won again, and the Dodgers remain two and a half games behind, with a record of 51-44. Tommorow’s game is on at 10AM, so wake up rise and shine to some Dodger Baseball in the morning! What could be better with your morning Coffey right Dodger fans? We’ll see you tomorrow.
