Will Inky return to the Dodger Bullpen next year?-Gary A. Vasquez-US PRESSWIRE

League is 29 years old, and was acquired in trade from the Seattle Mariners this season for two minor leaguers. (Leon Landry, and Logan Bawcom) League struggled with the Dodgers at first, and then pitching coach Rick Honeycutt discovered a mechanical flaw in League’s delivery. Once that was fixed, League became lights out. League pitched in 28 games for the Dodgers this season. He posted a 2-1 record, a 2.30 ERA and saved six games in 27 innings pitched. He whiffed 27 batters, and walked only 14. Last season League was an all-star with Seattle. He saved 37 games in 2011, while posting a 2.79 ERA in 65 games. League had a 0.40 ERA over his final 21 games for the Dodgers.

League also known to us as “Inky” for his numerous tattoos, Just finished his final season of Arbitration before becoming a free agent this winter for the first time. In his last arbitration year he made five million dollars. The Dodgers can negotiate with League exclusively up until the day after the World Series ends.

If League is resigned the Dodgers could use him as closer, although we expect the Dodgers to use him as set-up and keep Kenley Jansen as the closer. League was the Dodger closer down the stretch last season after Jansen was sidelined with his irregular heart problem. If League returns to the Dodger bullpen next year, the Dodgers will have a dominating back end of the bullpen with Ronald Belisario, Brandon League, and Kenley Jansen. League converted all six save chances last season for the Dodgers. League is 6’2, 215, originally from Sacramento, but also hails from Honolulu Hawaii. You can also find League on twitter at
