Although I am way behind when it comes to gaming (I only own a Playstation 2 * gasp*), video games were an integral part of my childhood. Our first video game console was the Atari 5200. Scott and I played classics like Centipede, Pac-Man, RealSports Baseball, and my all-time favorite Frogger. Then there was our formidable NES years which eventually gave way to Sega Genesis. I still remember the day when I first beat Super Mario Bros. and saved Princess Peach from Bowser. My palms were sweaty as I concentrated, and after I completed that final stage we jumped up and down with joy only a child could possess. Forgive me while I reminisce. Baseball video games are a fun way to enjoy baseball outside the realm of the ballpark, and it’s a way to create your own storylines using your favorite players as characters.

The other MLB stars who are in the running are : Bryce Harper of the Washington Nationals who won the 2012 National League Rookie of the Year award, C.C. Sabathia of the New York Yankees, Andrew McCutchen of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Ryan Braun of the Milwaukee Brewers, Buster Posey of the San Francisco Giants who won the 2012 National League M.V.P., and Miguel Cabrera of the Detroit Tigers who was the American League M.V.P.

Voting begins on January 7th, and the release date for the game is set for March 5, 2013.
