The Dodgers are glad to be home. After an up and down road trip which saw them lose a series with the Orioles in Baltimore and win two-of-three in New York. The Dodgers kept their head afloat, but they still remain one game under .500. The Brewers are two games over .500, and they just had a nine-game winning streak snapped. The Dodgers will need to win at home in order to finish this month at .500 or better.

Josh Beckett is still vying for his first win on the season. The veteran right-hander will go up against a young up and coming right-hander for the Brewers. Beckett has already allowed six homeruns this season. In his career against Milwaukee, he is 1-2 with a 8.84 ERA and 21 strikeouts over 18 1/3 innings. A lot of strikeouts, but a lot of runs! Ryan Braun has hit a couple of homeruns against Beckett as well as Yuniesky Betancourt. Back on April 14, Josh had that impressive 8 1/3 inning performance. He struck out 9 D-backs and only allowed one run on 6 six hits in the hard-luck loss. Last time out against Baltimore in a doubleheader, Beckett only made it through 5 2/3 innings in the loss. He allowed 6 earned runs on 8 hits while only striking out 3 and walking 3. Beckett is still finding his groove as a re-imagined pitcher.
Hiram Burgos, a right-hander, will be making his second Major League start on Friday night. He pitched in an impressive debut last Saturday versus the Cubs. He pitched five innings and allowed one run on five hits. He even made Brewer history by becoming the first Brewer starter to win his Major League debut game since Yovani Gallardo in 2007. Burgos came from the Puerto Rico Baseball Academy and High School. He was named the Milwaukee Minor League Pitcher of the Year in 2012, and he went 10-4 with a 1.95 ERA in 28 games between Class-A, AA, and AAA-Nashville.
The Brewers will bring with them their excellent bullpen. The relievers have pitched 15 1/3 consecutive scoreless innings entering Friday’s game. In contrast, the Dodgers bullpen has been inconsistent and wild. They continue to walk batters, and they are unable to hold on to leads. Surprisingly the reliever with the longest scoreless streak is Matt Guerrier with six scoreless innings.
Hanley Ramirez is hyping up his return over Twitter.
First pitch is at 7:10 p.m. and will air on Prime Ticket. After a long roadtrip, it will also be refreshing to hear the sweet voice of Vin Scully as well!
