So long Cochito. Thanks for the memories!
#Dodgers today reinstated Scott Van Slyke from the 15-day disabled list and designated Luis Cruz for assignment.

Are we in heaven? The definition of Heaven is described as the following….
"“Heaven is often described as a “higher place”, the holiest place, a Paradise, in contrast to Hell or the Underworld or the “low places”, and universally or conditionally accessible by earthly beings according to various standards of divinity, goodness, piety, faith, or other virtues or right beliefs or simply the will of God.”"
That may be the official explanation of heaven, but the real heaven on Earth is at Dodger Stadium right now. Not only because Dodger Stadium is the most beautiful place on Earth, but because the Dodgers are on a season high six game winning streak. That was extended last night after the Dodger’s rousing 6-4 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies. Tonight the Dodgers will go for number seven, and if successful may send us all into heavenly bliss.

Tonight’s match will feature dueling left handers, as Philadelphia’s John Lannan battles the Dodgers Chris Capuano.
Lannan is a 28 year old New York native, that has only pitched in five games this year because of injuries. Lannan is 0-2 with a 5.84 ERA in a little over 24 innings. The Dodgers have seen Lannan during his days in Washington. The left hander is 4-1 with a 3.93 ERA against the Dodgers. But he’s 2-1 with a 2.79 ERA in three starts at Dodger Stadium. Despite Lannan’s past success at Dodger Stadium, the boys in blue are still hitting .305 (29 for 95) with two home runs. According to the scouting report, Lannan has an arsenal of pitches in his resume, which includes two-seam, and four-seam fastballs, slider, changeup, and curve.

The Dodgers counter with Chris Capuano. Cappy, like the rest of the Dodgers has been on a roll, and I don’t mean of the dinner variety. Capuano has pitched ten consecutive shut-out innings. Back on June 19 he pitched six shutout frames, beating the Yankees at Yankee Stadium. Then on June 23 in his next start, he pitched five shut-out innings against San Diego. During this stretch, he hasn’t walked one single batter. Against Philadelphia, he is 1-2 with a 3.47 ERA in six starts. The current group of Phillies have had little success against Capuano. Their .202 batting average against is evident enough. Check out the rest of the averages below. Capuano is 2-4 with a 4.09 ERA this season.

The Phillies acquired infielder John McDonald from Cleveland for a player to be names later and cash. He should be in uniform for tonight’s game. The Phillies optioned Freddy Galvis to make room. The Dodgers are also preparing for a roster move of their own, as Scott Van Slyke is due to come off of the disabled list today. Expect for a roster move to be announced sometime later this afternoon.
I also expect for Mattingly to load up the lineup with right handers, so we may see Van Slyke get a start. Otherwise I would expect the same outfield configuration as last night, with Andre Ethier likely playing in left field again.
Game tonight is at 7:10 PM and televised on Prime Ticket. Join us over here after the game to check out our complete recap.
The Dodgers are paying great right now, and this winning streak has seemingly turned the season around. But I want to remind everyone to not get too excited just yet. Yes the Dodger are making good progress, but remember they still have a long way to go. But another win could place us all squarely in heaven. (Insert Field of Dream’s reference to asking about Iowa).
Isn’t it hard to believe? We’re in heaven.
