Hope SPRINGS Eternal While Glancing at Dodgers 2014 Spring Schedule

The long offseason is just beginning, but I’m ready for pitchers and catchers to report to Spring Training 2014. This winter seems like it may be quieter than last offseason for the Dodgers. The free agent market is thin, and the Dodgers are discussing a long-term deal with Clayton Kershaw. They will have to decide if they want to re-sign any of the free agents which played last season as Dodgers, but Nick Punto was the first to leave after signing a one-year deal with Oakland on Wednesday. The rumor mill is already running, but the only interesting rumbling was of Seattle’s interest in Dodger outfielder Matt Kemp. While the free agent market is sorted through for next season, I’m already taking a look at the Dodgers Spring Training Schedule at Camelback Ranch, Arizona next year.
The Dodgers will play 21 Cactus League games at Camelback Ranch this Spring.
The Dodgers will not only play in Glendale, Arizona this spring, but they will also make the trek down under to play in Sydney, Australia. The Australian trip which includes the MLB Opening Series from March 22-23 versus the rival Arizona Diamondbacks will require the Dodgers to leave Camelback Ranch after their March 16th Spring Training game.
A special exhibition game is scheduled for March 21st against Team Australia at the Sydney Cricket Grounds before the Opening Series starts. Then after the series in Australia, the Dodgers will return to Southern California to play the traditional three-game Freeway Series with the Angels before resuming the regular season on April 1st. So the Dodgers will have two regular season games under their belt while still having three Spring Training games to play versus their cross-town rivals in Anaheim.
The Spring schedule will begin on Wednesday, February 26th as the Dodgers take on the D-backs at Talking Stick. The Dodgers play their first home game (there are 21 total Spring Games for the Dodgers in Arizona), on Thursday, February 27th. The only two Arizona Spring Training Games with a later start time than 1 p.m. are two split squad games which are on Saturdays- March 8th and March 15th.
The Dodgers home opener at Dodger Stadium won’t be until Friday, April 4th versus the Giants. The Tigers will be coming into town soon after.
Are you planning on a trip to Camelback Ranch this Spring to see the Dodgers? Let us know in the comments if you’ll be there.

Spring is a rebirth of the new season! It’s a fresh chance to go for the championship. The Dodgers have what it takes, and Spring will shape this new team before the quest in 2014 begins. The Dodgers will make history by opening the MLB season in Sydney, Australia. Even though the Dodgers came up short the previous season, my outlook is nothing but BLUE.
