Dodgers Agree To Terms With Wilson And His Beard

The Dodgers have finally come to terms with Brian Wilson on a one-year deal with a player option for a second year. The Dodgers have released the financial terms as ten million dollars with the player option being either nine million or ten million dollars. No Word on whether his beard will also receive a beard option for a second year. This is fantastic news for the 2014 Dodger bullpen.

According to Tim Brown that option will depend on performance incentives to determine the salary range. The total value of the contract is around 19 million dollars with an additional 700,000 dollars in possible incentives notes Jim Bowden.

Wilson has stated that he is ok with pitching the seventh and eighth innings as Kenley Jansen’s set-up man, despite being paid closer cash. The new deal will allow Wilson to showcase his talent for a possible huge payout next season as a free agent. But the option year gives the Dodgers a second year if Wilson wants to stay in Los Angeles another year.

Wilson had been previously in discussions with the Tigers and a couple of other clubs. Closer Kenley Jansen is projected to earn 4.8 million dollars in salary arbitration in 2014.
