Dodgers Make Seth Rosin Acquisition Official

You know it’s a slow news day when you’re talking about Seth Rosin. But here we are. The Dodgers officially announced the acquisition of pitcher Seth Rosin today. The Dodgers have sent over some cash considerations to the Mets to complete the deal. Here’s the official release from the Dodgers.

The Los Angeles Dodgers today acquired right-handed pitcher Seth Rosin from the New York Mets in exchange for cash considerations after the 25-year-old was selected by New York in the Major League phase of the Rule 5 draft from Philadelphia.

Rosin, a 6-foot-6, 250-pounder, spent the 2013 season with the Phillies’ Double-A Reading club, going 9-6 with a 4.33 ERA in 26 games (23 starts). In four professional seasons, Rosin, has gone 14-12 with 12 saves and a 4.00 ERA in 108 games (42 starts), after he was originally selected by the Giants in the fourth round of the 2010 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Minnesota.

Including Rosin, the Dodgers have acquired only 12 players through the Rule 5 draft since 1981 and four of those players have made the Opening Day roster, last occurring with right-handed pitcher Carlos Monasterios in 2010.

The Dodgers now have 36 players on their 40-man roster.
