The Dodgers today released the financial terms of their new contracts with relievers Chris Perez, Jamey Wright, J.P. Howell, and third baseman Juan Uribe, as the club officially announced all of the deals this afternoon.
Perez’s base salary will be 2.25 million dollars, but like Howell’s deal, he has incentives written into his contract. Perez could earn up to 6 million dollars in a set-up role and if somehow he ends up closing games, he could garner up to eight million dollars. Perez formerly the closer for the Cleveland Indians has expressed his desire to pitch for the Dodgers.

Howell’s deal will guarantee him four million dollars in both years of his deal, and has a 6.25 million dollar club option with a 250,000 dollar buyout. But the option can be voided if the buyout is forfeited. If Howell pitches 65 games in 2015, or 120 total games between 2014-2015 and is not on the disabled list, then his option becomes a player option. Howell also received a three million dollar signing bonus. It’s a little on the confusing side I know.
The Dodgers also officially announced the signings of third baseman Juan Uribe, and his two-year 15 million dollar contract. They also announced the signing of Journeyman reliever Jamey Wright on a one-year deal. Wright, the 38-year old reliever is returning to the Dodgers for his second stint with the club. Wright had previously pitched for the Dodgers back in 2011. Wright’s contract is a big league deal.
The club has said that Kenley Jansen and Brian Wilson will close games, while Perez and Wright will pitch the seventh and eighth innings. Perez has told the club that he is willing to pitch in any role the team asks of him. This could be the Dodger’s best bullpen in years.
