Vin Scully Rings in New Year as Grand Marshall of the 125th Rose Parade

The Rose Parade began with one of the more memorable intros I have seen throughout the years. Vin Scully, the Dodgers beloved broadcaster, announced the start to the 125th Rose Parade presented by Honda which included a montage of live performers and flowered floats representing different eras and the parade theme “Dreams Come True.

"“And now, instead of me throwing out the first pitch, let’s start the parade!” – Vin Scully"

Vin Scully was riding in a vintage 1950 Oldsmobile alongside his beautiful wife Sandi. The rare Oldsmobile was selected specifically for its year, since Scully began his broadcasting career with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1950. Only seven of these cars are known to exist today.

The 85-year young Scully will also toss the coin at the start of the Rose Bowl Game on January 1st.

There’s no better way to ring in the New Year with an extra special appearance from Vin Scully. Scully is the quintessential Los Angeles icon and the perfect person to garner the Grand Marshall title at the Rose Parade. Scully should be a permanent Grand Marshall of everything all the time.

Seeing Vin on New Year’s Day gets me extremely excited for the new season which is right around the corner. Listening to Vin Scully is something I dearly miss every offseason, and I’m so thankful that he is coming back to grace us with his beautiful voice for the 2014 season and hopefully beyond.

There is a commemorative pin available depicting Vin Scully as Grand Marshall of the Rose Parade. If you are interested in collecting this item, it can be found here.
