Smell You Later Camelback, Dodgers Play Final Game In Glendale

Well folks we’ve reached the end of the Dodger’s Cactus League schedule in Glendale, Arizona. After Sunday’s afternoon affair with the Colorado Rockies, the Dodgers will board a plane and fly to Sydney Australia to open the season next Saturday night. Remember that’s Saturday night our time, in which the first game will be on at 1:00 in the morning.

Are the boys in Blue ready? I’m not so sure. The pitching staff looks ready for the most part. Kershaw has looked somewhat discombobulated, and Beckett’s had the sore thumb, and Brandon League is still awful, but otherwise the pitchers have looked fine.

The defense has been alright as well, but the hitting is what’s concerned me most. The hitters look to be far behind everything. Oh well, such is life when you have your spring schedule abbreviated because of a random Australia trip.

What can you do? Just have to hope for the best and root our boys onto victory. I can’t wait. I’m about sick of these meaningless spring games. I’m craving games that actually count. As some of you may already know, Stacie is still at Camelback Ranch and should be there through Sunday’s games. She’ll be there when the rosters are announced later today. I just got back from CBR last Monday night, and Julian was just down there as well. It seems like everyone has made their visits this year.

Julio Urias impressed in his debut outing Saturday afternoon. Stacie was there and should have up some cool pics and live video of Urias’s outing. So stay tuned for that. I’ll also be putting up some more pics from my spring training trip with my father. We had a blast!

This afternoon the Dodgers take the field at Camelback Ranch for the final time. I think we have a pretty good idea of who is and who isn’t going to Australia. Well, we took our best guesses at the least. Take a look at the lineup for this afternoon. Again we see Dee Gordon at second base. I must admit he has really turned it on the last couple of weeks, and it looks like he’ll probably be the starting second baseman. Fine, I give in. We’ll give Gordon a try again. I’m ok with this, as long as Alexander Guerrero at least makes the roster. I can live with a platoon of Guerrero and Gordon. Kudos to Gordon for all of his hard work this spring.

The rest of the lineup looks normal. All of the regulars are in. This is the last time they can play for about a week. The club does have an exhibition game against team Australia on Thursday night, but that’s it until next Saturday evening.

Again expect rosters to be announced sometime after the game is over. We already know Carl Crawford Can’t make it because his girlfriend is having a baby. Dan Haren won’t make the trip either, and Zack Greinke is still building arm strength after recovering from his calf strain. Beckett may miss the trip because of his thumb. Otherwise I would imagine everyone else should make the trip unless they’re injured. We’ll know after the game, but this is it my friends. Until next year CBR, take care……..

With love, Lasorda’s Lair……..

With love?! Ok what is that? I don’t know. Just silliness I guess. Sunday morning silliness to be precise. Being so close to meaningful Baseball games makes me giddy. Once the games start next weekend, the meaningful ones, expect for us to be back with our usual infamous game recaps. We’ll cover every game as we usually do. We won’t miss a thing, you can bet on that. Oh and it’s Brian Wilson’s birthday today, so that should be interesting. This is definitely it.
