Zack Greinke missed the flight to Australia to start the 2014 season, but it turned out to be the right move in keeping him stateside. If it weren’t for Greinke staying, he might have made the long list of Dodgers that spent time on the disabled list and the Dodgers would have had some problems starting their 2014 season.

Going to into the All Star break, Greinke currently sports a 2.73 ERA along with a (11-5) record. He is currently tied with fellow rotation and all-star teammate, Clayton Kershaw, for second place in the National league with 11 wins. Greinke will also be making his first trip to the All Star game in Minneapolis as a Dodger. It will be his second career all-star selection, previously making it back in 2009 as a Kansas City Royal.

After the All Star break, Greinke is expected to continue his dominance the Dodgers expected him to do since he signed with LA. He is slotted to pitch second in the rotation behind Dan Haren with Kershaw, Hyun-jin Ryu and the fifth spot, depending on Josh Beckett‘s health, following Greinke. This rotation is still deep regardless of who pitches first or last. Greinke will likely finish in the top five in the National league in wins along with Kershaw by the end of the season.
I have no doubt that he will continue to dominate in LA for years to come, but this season has been really special for Greinke and the Dodgers. He is currently having one of his best seasons of his career. With that being said, this season could be the season that Greinke and the Dodgers could make a deep postseason run for the championship.

This year consisting of two no-hitters, a strong starting rotation and the offense will start heating up, the Dodgers are poised to make a long postseason run. It has been 26 years since the Dodgers last brought a championship to Los Angeles. It’s long overdue. Greinke will help the Dodgers have a successful postseason and reach the finish line with a championship trophy in their hands.
