The Frustrated Dodger Fan’s Guide To Watching The League Championship Series
By Scott Andes

The Dodgers may not be in the playoffs anymore, but they continue on unfortunately. The League Championship series round kicks off tonight as the Royals take on the Orioles in game 1 at Camden Yards on TBS at 5:00PM. Meanwhile the National League Championship series begins Saturday night as the Giants (Facepalm) battle the Cardinals (Disgusting) at Busch Stadium. That series will be televised on Fox Sports 1.
So what’s a disgruntled Dodger fan to do these days? Do we watch either of these series? Who do we root for? Do we even care at all? My answer to these questions is a resounding meh.
I really don’t care at all. I guess if I had to pick a team out of these remaining four. I mean if I absolutely had to as in imperative. I guess I would take the Royals. They haven’t won anything in so long, and it is a nice story. But look me in the eyes and tell me that you care. Spoiler alert. You don’t.
Although it would be sweet to watch the Royals beat the Cardinals in the World Series again. Can you imagine the storylines? The last time the Royals were in the World Series was 1985, and they beat the Cardinals in that series. Can you imagine the painful irony in that for Cardinal fans? Wouldn’t that be something to see? Don’t go chasing waterfalls Cardinals. Just stick to the rivers and the lakes that you’re used to.
We could root for the Orioles if we cared enough. They haven’t been to an ALCS since 1997, and haven’t been to a World Series since……1983? Damn. That is a long time. Longer than the Royals. It’s hard for me to muster up the energy to care.
As for the NLCS, there are no winners in that one. Technically one of the clubs has to win, and the other lose. But god the horror. The choices are awful. Nobody wants to see anyone win this series. We either watch the Giants win their third pennant in four years, or watch the stupid Cardinals advance to their third World Series in four years. Can we get some new teams in the NLCS next season? Come on MLB. I’ll root for rainouts in every game. I think the national media should just abandon coverage. Want to know what happened in the last night’s NLCS game? We don’t know. Shrugs shoulders.
If the weather permits out in Baltimore, James Shields will take on Chris Tillman later tonight, and Madison Bumgarner will counter Adam Wainwright on Saturday night in game 1 of the NLCS. Screw you playoffs.
What to watch, what to watch…… Laker’s Basketball anyone?
