Clayton and Ellen Kershaw Welcome Baby Girl

Lasorda’s Lair wants to congratulate Clayton and Ellen Kershaw on the birth of their first child! Cali Ann Kershaw was born on Friday January, 23rd, 2015 at 5:43 p.m. CT. She weighed 6 pounds, 13 ounces and was 20 inches long.

Cali, which is an adorable name by the way, was born during the offseason, but I’m sure she’s already the M.V.P. in Clayton and Ellen’s eyes. Clayton was excited about becoming a father, and he told Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times back in September.

“We’re pumped.”
“I know the feeling of feeling helpless when your daughter or someone else you care about is going through something. “I just hope that she is never sad. That’s my goal.”

Kersh usually follows through and accomplishes most of the goals he sets out for himself, and I’m sure Clayton and Ellen will be amazing parents. Clayton and Ellen’s love and compassion for children all over the world is evident through their charity work with Kershaw’s Challenge. Usually they travel to Africa every offseason to visit the orphanage they helped build in Zambia. Their new goal is to build a second children’s home. Their annual trip may have been postponed due to Cali’s arrival, but I’m sure Ellen will be continuing her life’s work with Kershaw’s Challenge in order to promote children’s charities throughout Los Angeles and the world. Even though the Kershaws were loving on their new bundle of joy this weekend (by the way Cali’s birthday is just three days before mine), Clayton still had some baseball business to take care of.

Clayton received his N.L. Cy Young Award and his N.L. M.V.P. Award on Saturday with Dodger legend Sandy Koufax there to do do the honors.

There’s a lot to be thankful for in the Kershaw house, and we wish them the best!
