I hope the Dodgers get this kind of performance from Alex Wood in the playoffs
7 innings 2 runs 4-1 K/BB 66.7% ground balls, that’ll do, that’ll certainly do. It seems like when his command is working, his pitches are working, and when his pitches are working he’s working.
That sounded like a Tim McCarver quote, but it’s true, Hyun-Jin Ryu’s success was basically predicated on fastball velocity, Wood’s is correlated pretty heavily with his command.
On the offensive side of things, Corey Seager, preferred game 1 NLDS starter at SS, Corey Seager hit a single and walked once to lower his wOBA to .395, the bum! There’s no excuse for him to not start in the NLDS, I mean I’d take him if only for his batspeed versus the Mets young arms, he’s exciting and cool and very fun.
Otherwise, Adrian Gonzalez, Andre Ethier, Justin Turner (kinda), and AJ Ellis all drove in runners, so the offense did good enough today, especially on a night where Wood was really good.
Not much else to say other than YASIEL PUIG IS COMING BACK SOON !1!!!!1!
They face Robbie Erlin tomorrow after securing their 3rd straight 90 win season, pretty pretty good.
