With Zack Greinke leaving the Dodgers for Arizona, the Dodgers’ need for starting pitching grew tenfold. What free agent options do they have?

On December 5th, the Dodgers rotation currently stands as Clayton Kershaw, Alex Wood, Brett Anderson, Mike Bolsinger and Zach Lee? Hyun-jin Ryu is a wild card, Brandon McCarthy isn’t expected to be back until the all-star break, and Greinke is in Arizona.

I don’t think this is a hot take, but the rotation will not look like this come April 4th, when the Dodgers open the regular season in San Diego. People would be more calm if it was a bit earlier in the offseason, but with David Price, Jordan Zimmermann and now reportedly Jeff Samardzija signing with Boston, Detroit and San Francisco, respectively, some fans are in a bit of a panic.

The pitching market is a bit thinner now, but there is still plenty of talent out there. For my sanity’s sake, this post will only look at free agency options. Don’t make me try to predict the trades this front office can pull off in the next four months.
