On Tuesday the Dodgers announced that they would be adding Alex Anthopoulos to the front office.

Yesterday morning the Dodgers made yet another offseason move, in the front office. The club confirmed that Alex Anthopoulos would be joining the organization and taking on the role of VP of Baseball Operations. In this new position, Anthopoulos will be involved with all aspects of baseball operations and work along side Andrew Friedman, Farhan Zaidi and senior vice president of baseball operations, Josh Byrnes.

In 2003, Anthopoulos was hired as a scouting coordinator for the Toronto Blue Jays.  Then in 2009, he was hired as the general manager for the club when Ricciardi.

Anthopoulos is also known for being apart of one of the biggest trades in the Blue Jays history, known as “The Doc Deal”. “The Doc Deal” involved the Jays trading Roy Halladay to the Philadelphia Phillies for Kyle Drabek, Michael Taylor and Travis d’Arnaud.

More from Dodgers Way

Most recently, Anthopoulos was the senior vice president of baseball operations with the Blue Jays. He was given the Sporting News Executive of the Year award following the 2015 season. Anthopoulos was acknowledged for his hard work and helping the Blue Jays reach the playoffs for the first time since 1993. On October 29, 2015 it was announced that Anthopoulos rejected a five year extension deal with the club, but refused to give a reason why. He stated that certain things should remain private.

Yesterday Anthopoulos had a conference call with some reporters talking about his feelings regarding the Dodgers and more of what his role will look like.

In an article by Eric Stephen of True Blue LA, Anthopoulos stated that he hopes to be with the Dodgers for a long time and would not consider moving his family out to Los Angeles if he felt like it would be a quick stay with the organization.

Overall, it is clear that the Dodgers are continuing to improve their front office. Alex Anthopoulos was a great addition, after all he just won an award for his work in the front office for the Jays. It will be interesting to see what he brings to the table. Hopefully some big changes to the bullpen and team in general are on the way.
