Today marks two years that Alanna Rizzo has reported for the Dodgers.
Alanna Rizzo was born in Colorado and attended the University of Colorado at Boulder where she earned an M.A in Broadcast Journalism. After earning her degree, Rizzo became a reporter for CBS stations in Texas and Wisconsin. She later became a reporter for Root Sports Rocky Mountain and through that won three Regional Emmy awards.
Alanna Rizzo also was a reporter on MLB Network before working for Dodgers. She was frequently on Quick Pitch and Intentional Talk, which happens to be my favorite show, Got Heem. Alongside other MLB analysists like Kevin Millar, Chris Rose, Matt Vasgersian and Harold Reynolds, Alanna shined and proved she knew her stuff.
Earlier this afternoon Alanna Rizzo tweeted out a picture in celebration of her reporting for the Dodgers for two years.
As a girl going to college and pursuing a career in the MLB I can truly say Alanna Rizzo has been a huge role model in my life. These past years she has proved that a woman can hold her own in the game of baseball. Us Dodger fans have seen her report in freezing weather, through Gatorade baths and the ice cold post-season champagne celebrations. Through it all she has been a champ.
It is women like Alanna Rizzo who have inspired girls like me to take on the challenge of working in a sport dominated by men. She has been a great addition to the Dodgers over the past two seasons and I personally cannot wait to see her continue her success with the team for seasons to come.
