The Dodgers dropped game one to the Brewers last night, but tonight they are sending their teenage rookie, Julio Urias to the mound.

The Dodgers last night looked promising for awhile. They were down by three, but tied it up and then down by three again only to rally back for the second time and tie. Unfortunately, Pedro Baez out of the bullpen gave up two runs and the Dodgers could not manage to bounce back for the third time. Though they tried in the bottom of the ninth to get the walk off win, Corey Seager struck out under the pressure. One thing is for sure, even though they lost, the Dodgers proved they know how to be resilient last night.

Urias is still looking for his first major league win with the big league club. He is coming into tonight’s game with a record of 0-2 and an ERA of 5.82. Tonight will be Urias’ fifth start with the team. In 17 innings of work in four starts, he has struck out 21 batters and given up 20 hits. While his record may not show it, Urias has shown improvement in the last few starts. He is still settling into the new role, but his last outing showed that he seems to be gaining some confidence. At just 19, the Dodgers and Urias only show signs of getting better and more comfortable in the majors.

The Brewers will be sending Zach Davies to the mound this evening. Davies has made 11 starts for the club and has a record of 5-3, as well as an ERA of 3.88. In 62.2 innings this year, Davies has struck out 50 batters and allowed 27 earned runs.

Dave Roberts announced this evening’s lineup. Joc Pederson is back in center after not starting the game last night. Will Venable is also back in today’s lineup and in right field again. Urias will be on the mound and Yasmani Grandal has the job of catching him behind home plate.

In some other Dodger news, Yasiel Puig is playing tonight with the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes and is expected to play seven full innings. Puig seems to be getting healthy quickly. He even had a stolen base the other night with the Quakes. For a player that is struggling with a hamstring, a stolen base during a game is a great sign.

Tonight’s first pitch is scheduled for 7:10 PM. Happy Julio Day!
