The Dodgers will be facing the Arizona Diamondbacks in a three game series starting this evening.

I am not sure about you, but the All-Star break always feels like an eternity to me. Probably because not only is there no Dodger baseball, but there is no baseball in general. It is a rough few days for fans, but a much needed break for players who leave everything out on the field day in and day out through the 162 game season. Good news: the All-Star break is over and Dodger baseball is back tonight. Bad news: we are now officially in the second half of the baseball season.

Tonight the Dodgers will take the field in Arizona and be sending Bud Norris to the mound. Norris was acquired by the Dodgers on June 30 this year thanks to a trade with the Braves. Norris has started two games for the boys in blue since joining the team. Trading for him was not really the big news Dodger fans were seeking, but Norris is the kind of guy that can give a team a few quality starts and help them stay in the game, which is always valuable. He has pitched 11 innings with the Dodgers and allowed 3 earned runs, struck out 13 and gave up eight hits. July 1 was Norris’ first start with the club. He went six innings, allowed two hits, no runs and got the W for the evening. His last outing was July 6 against the Orioles. Norris only went five innings, allowed three runs and struck out five. Overall, both starts were decent and gave the Dodgers exactly what they were looking for when they picked up Norris.

The Diamondbacks are sending Patrick Corbin to the mound this evening. He is coming into tonight’s game with a record of 4-7 and an ERA of 4.94. He has struck out 75 batters and walked 41 so far this season. Corbin has faced the Dodgers twice this season. In those two games, he has struck out eight batters and walked four while giving up 13 hits. The Diamondback starting rotation has been shaky all season. They lost Zack Greinke and Shelby Miller to injuries. Both Greinke and Miller were expected to carry the team to the top of the division. The Diamondbacks are currently in last place in the NL West with a record of 38-52. They sit 19 games back from the first place Giants.

Howie Kendrick is leading off and getting the start in left tonight. Since Joc Pederson is still on the disabled list, Scott Van Slyke is getting the start in center. Chris Taylor will be at second base which gives Chase Utley the day off. Yasmani Grandal looks to continue his hot hitting he started before the break, as he gets the start behind the plate. Norris will be looking for his second Dodger win on the mound this evening.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 PM and will be shown on Sports Net LA.
