Justin Seager’s Minor League Success

Of the three Seager brothers, Justin is probably the one you may not know much about. He was drafted by the Mariners in the 2013 draft and selected in the 12th round. The 24 year old may not be as well known as his other two brothers, but he is making a steady climb in the Mariners farm system.

You may think that the competition would get to Justin Seager, however he seems to support both of his brothers.

After playing in 50 games with the Bakersfield Blaze, where he hit .213 with 7 home runs and 31 RBI’s, he was promoted to the Mariners Double A team in Jackson. Justin Seager broke his back his junior year of high school weight lifting, which could be part of the reason he has yet to reach the same success his brothers have.

You may thing that the competition would get to Justin Seager, however he seems to support both of his brothers through everything and genuinely cheers them on. Last week when Corey Seager was soaking in the All-Star game, you could find Justin Seager in the crowd or riding in the bed of the truck during the parade.

Through thick and thin the Seager brother’s seem to stick together. Justin Seager may be the only Seager brother not named an All-Star, but he could one day be there. Until then, he continues to grind in the Mariners farm.

If you would like to read more about Justin Seager and the dynamic of his family, Zach Ewing wrote a great article on him that can be found here.
