Right Field: Josh Reddick/Yasiel Puig vs Bryce Harper

Going off name value, Harper would be a runaway winner here. He’s literally Bryce Harper.

Bryce Harper had a really mediocre season this year. It’s one of those things where expectations really screwed him. He was essentially Joc Pederson this year. Joc slashed .246/.352/.495. Harper slashed .243/.373/.441. Joc had a 129 wRC+ and 3.7 WAR. Harper had a 112 wRC+ and 3.4 WAR. Yet, we think Joc had a great year and Bryce had an awful year.

Harper has been dealing with injuries for most of the season, which could explain his struggles. He’s currently dealing with a thumb thing, which not only impacts him at the plate but could keep his usually-great arm from playing a factor in this series.

On the other hand, the Dodgers will be using a talented platoon in right. Reddick put together two impressive months as a Dodger. His August was impressively awful, as he posted a wRC+ of 12 and slashed .161/.223/.172. Many were quick to call that trade a failure, but Reddick bounced back with an insane September/October. A 164 wRC+ and a slash of .382/.417/.544 will play in the playoffs.

Reddick is bad against lefties, so expect Puig to platoon with him. We all know about the issues Puig had and his demotion to the minors, but he’s been great since return. His defense and arm never waned, but he slashed .281/.338/.561 in his return for a 137 wRC+, with much of that coming off left handed pitching.

Advantage: Dodgers barely, but Harper still scares the crap out of me
