Shortstop:
1. Corey Seager, LAD
Is there any debate here? Corey Seager lit up the majors last year and took home Rookie of the Year honors as well as some MVP votes. This year he comes into the season with huge expectations to follow up on his rookie campaign.
2. Brandon Crawford, SF
Crawford comes in second here, as he still possesses a solid bat, (.260/.329/.427). Even as his bat may start to fade, he has one of the best gloves in the major leagues and will go for his 3rd gold glove award this year.
3. Trevor Story, COL
Had Trevor Story not went down with a thumb injury; he might have made the second spot. There was even a brief discussion as to Story winning Rookie of the Year to start the season. Story’s star power is on the rise. He’s in the conversation with the new shortstop generation that is taking the league by storm.
4. Erick Aybar, SD
Aybar is no longer a solid option at short, as he was back in Anaheim, but San Diego isn’t looking to win now.
5. Chris Owings, ARI
Chris Owings is just my guess who wins out the spot for the D-backs. Anyone in Arizona would’ve got the last spot here. The Dbacks made a big mistake by trading away potential Rookie of the Year candidate Dansby Swanson.
