San Diego Padres (16-30) 12.5

No surprise here, the Padres yet again find themselves at the bottom of the NL West. Coming into the week, the Padres were ten games behind the Colorado Rockies and looking turn their season around with a seven-game home stand. That wasn’t precisely the case.

The Padres were only able to muster up two wins last week, hitting a long five-game losing streak midweek. The club lost both series at home against the Milwaukee Brewers and Arizona Diamondbacks. The struggling Padres gave up 38 runs and were only able to bring 18 runs home in their seven games. That is a direct indication of how their season has been going the first two months. The Padres hold a league worst, -85 run differential and have lost 14 out of their last 18 games.

This poor performance by San Diego dropped them to 12 1/2 games out of first and almost certainly solidifies them at the bottom of the division. The Padres will continue to use this season as a rebuilding process and hope to find Wil Myers some help in the middle of the lineup. ESPN asked the question if this team could break their franchise record for most losses in the season (110). Frankly, for a major league team that has Jered Weaver in their starting rotation, I wouldn’t put 110 losses in the season past them.
