Dodgers: The Clash of the National League’s Titans
Game Two- Tuesday 7:10 PM (Brandon McCarthy vs. Max Scherzer)
Pitching Matchup: Brandon McCarthy is scheduled to start for the Dodgers on Tuesday, but there is some concern he could miss the start due to a blister that popped up in his last start against the Cardinals. More than likely McCarthy will be able to make the start and will look to have a better start after he was victimized by Adam Wainwright in his last outing.
Max Scherzer will get the nod for the Nationals and is coming off a dominant outing against the Giants where he pitched a complete game and struck out eleven hitters while allowing only one run. Last season’s NL CY Young Award winner is having another stellar season boasting a 2.56 ERA.
Dodger hitter to watch: Yasiel Puig has the highest average against Scherzer of Dodger hitters with at least five at-bats against Scherzer with a .333 batting average against the Nationals’ ace.
National hitter to watch: Jayson Werth has a .333 average off McCarthy including a home run. If his foot is feeling better, then it’s a safe bet he will be back in the lineup Tuesday.

Key to the Game: Tuesday should be the toughest game this series for the Dodgers to win. If Scherzer brings his “A” game, then the Dodgers won’t find themselves with many chances to score. Someone like Bellinger who has the power to muscle one out off Scherzer could end up hitting a big home run to provide the Dodgers with the offense needed to win. If McCarthy’s blister is healed, he should be able to give the Dodgers’ offense a chance to win the game as he’s been the most consistent starter outside of Clayton Kershaw.
