Jerry Blevins – New York Mets

Out of all the players mentioned in this article, Blevins is likely the most affordable option when it comes to the prospect cost it will take to acquire him. He has an option for 2018 so he could be a rental or the Dodgers could bring him back next season for seven million dollars. That seems a tad expensive for a situational lefty so my guess is he would be a rental for the rest of this season.

Blevins is holding left-handed batters to a .162 average and has not given up a home run to a left-handed hitter yet, so he is one of the most effective at his position in the game. He cannot be trusted to face right-handed hitters as they are raking .343 off him with three home runs. Given that he is a situational pitcher, or LOOGY as the cool kids call them, the rebuilding Mets would be happy to get whatever they can for Blevins.

Blevins has been around the league for many years and also has playoff experience so he would give Los Angeles a trusted veteran pitcher that won’t fold under pressure in the playoffs. As Dodger fans, we have seen many pitchers become a victim of the moment in the playoffs, so adding some veteran composure to the bullpen wouldn’t be a bad option.
