Dodgers: It Is Not Time to Panic Yet
The Dodgers have lost nine games in a row and 14 of their last 15, and it’s thrown all of us into a frenzy. They have been swept twice by the suddenly hot Dbacks and are “only” 10 games up in the NL West standings now. There’s been so much negativity around this team since this skid started, but I’m here to tell you that there’s nothing to worry about.
It may be hard to see the team struggling like this because October is fast approaching, but then again, did you want this team to go into October without facing a little adversity. As nice as it would’ve been to go into October without this bump in the road, it will only make this team stronger. Think about the idea of the Dodgers riding into October with the mindset they are simply better than everyone else. That’s how upsets happen, and that would’ve been a real possibility for this team.
I guess you also would’ve liked the Dodgers to beat the MLB record of 116 wins like they were on pace to do before this skid. Well, now that that’s no longer going to happen it takes a lot of pressure off of the team. Remember the narratives about the Dodgers being the best team ever but possibly losing in the playoffs?
Yeah, that will put some extra weight on your shoulders. Look no further than the 73-9 Warriors who will always be remembered as the team who couldn’t get the job done. I’m sure we didn’t want to be exposed to that.

Baseball is stupid sometimes, as I’m sure we’ve figured out in these past few weeks. This game is full of the highest highs and the lowest lows, and right now the Dodgers are feeling the latter. But, should we really be worried about a team that was so historically great a few weeks ago?
Do you really believe it’s plausible for the Dodgers to suddenly become the worst team in baseball history after being one of the best for an extended stretch? The answer is no, and we all know what this team can do. They are still expected to win close to 105 games on the season according to baseball prospectus and they will need a miraculous collapse for them to not make the playoffs.
I know it’s hard to remember right now but, Cody Bellinger and Corey Seager are MVP-caliber players. Justin Turner is one of the best hitters in all of baseball. Chris Taylor and Yasiel Puig are still two of the most improved players in all of baseball. Clayton Kershaw and Yu Darvish might be the best 1-2 punch a team can throw out. Brandon Morrow and Kenley Jansen might be the best 1-2 punch to end a game.
This team still has all the talent that brought it to this point and no they don’t all suck. If the regular season wins didn’t matter for this team, don’t pretend like the regular season losses do, because once playoff baseball begins we are playing a whole different game.

We might have to struggle through a couple more stinkers, but I can confidently tell you it is not the time to worry about this team. Sit back, take a breath, and try not to get worked up about them just yet. You’re still going to see them in October, and that’s when it’s time to worry. As I said, baseball is stupid, and the sooner we accept that fact, the sooner we can get back to enjoying Dodgers baseball.
