The former first-round pick of the Dodgers is on this list of must-watch prospects for a different reason than the others. He had high expectations being drafted in the first round and delivered in his first season with the Dodgers organization. But in 2017 he took a step in the wrong direction and regressed a bit with the Great Lakes Loons.
He still has all the tools, it is not like they suddenly disappeared. He just needs to get back on track and with the support, he will have it will be a very high possibility that he will get back on the path towards being the shortstop that takes over for Seager to moves Seager to third base.
Lux fell out of the top 10 prospects this season because of his poor performance in single A. He has a smooth swing and a good approach at the plate. He had 88 strikeouts in his 111 games which shows that he puts the bat on the ball very often. His struggles in 2017 might have been due to just flat out bad luck.
He is good on the base paths and has the quickness to steal bases. He hit 7 home runs which show he is finally getting his strength and growing into that frame. Lux still has all of the tools to become an elite baseball player. 2018 could be a breakout year for him and solidify his spot back into the top 10 of the Dodgers prospects. This is a critical year for him and one you should keep an eye on.
