For the third consecutive year the Dodgers will play in the National League Championship Series. They will be facing a different NL Central team this time around. The Brewers, not the Cubs are the opponents in 2018 as the Dodgers look to win back to back pennants for the first time since 1977-1978.

The Brewers enter the series scorching hot, riding an 11-game win streak. Impressive, but if you dig deeper you can see this team is definitely beatable. After winning the series finale in Pittsburgh, they really started this streak in St. Louis, sweeping and outscoring the Cards 20-9. After an off-day they then ended the regular season at home against a 97-loss Tigers team. Sweeping them of course and outscoring Detroit 23-10.

After game 162 they had to play in a decisive game 163 against the Cubs. This game would be the Cubs 21st game in 22 days and 11th consecutive game without an off-day. Meanwhile this would be the Brewers 19th game in 22 days and only their 4th consecutive game without an off-day. They also managed to avoid facing the Cubs ace Jon Lester.

After winning in Chicago they waited at home for 2 days before the Rockies limped into town. After playing 28 games in September the Rockies traveled to Los Angeles and lost game 163. They then had a game the next day in Chicago that went 13 innings. They got one day off before opening up the NLDS in Milwaukee and losing game 1 in their second consecutive extra inning game. Eventually getting swept by the Brew Crew.

Baseball is hard. The fact that the Brewers have won 11-consecutive games is very impressive. But, they had an advantage in most of those 11 games. They still took care of business which is big for them, because having the upper hand doesn’t guarantee victory (ask the Dodgers about the Reds). Nonetheless this series should be fun. Let’s see how these two teams stack up.
