The Dodgers have battled their way to a 3-2 series lead in the National League Championship Series.  In the process it appears they have broken the confidence of the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Brewers came into the NLCS brimming with confidence and swagger.  The had won eleven straight games, swept the red hot Colorado Rockies, and now had home field advantage for the best of seven series with the Dodgers.  The Brewers even won the first game of the NLCS and had the Dodgers on the ropes until Justin Turner delivered in the eighth inning of game two.

Not only did Justin Turner’s go ahead home run launch the Dodgers back into the drivers seat and possibly save the Dodgers’ season, it was the beginning of a crack in the Brewers’ confidence.  It started to show after game two when Brewers’ reliever Jeremy Jeffress called the Dodgers “lucky”.  The Dodgers have been anything but lucky as they’ve caused the Brewer bullpen ERA to jump from 1.17 in the NLDS, to 3.74 in the NLCS.

Now there are reports that the Brewers are suspecting the Dodgers of stealing signs.  The article states that the Brewers have no concrete evidence for their allegations, they just suspect that “something is off”.  For a team to come out and start accusing a team of cheating, that sounds like a team that has lost its confidence.  It sounds like a team that doesn’t believe they can win the series.  The Dodgers have officially broken the Brewers’ confidence.

More from LA Dodgers News

  • The Dodgers will send Hyun-Jin Ryu to the mound to try to clinch their second straight World Series berth.  While Clayton Kershaw is still the ace of the Dodger rotation, Ryu has a stellar 1.59 ERA this postseason and will look to book the Dodgers’ trip back to the World Series.  It would be quite the turnaround for Hyun-Jin Ryu who has been injury plagued over the last four seasons and the long term outlook of his big league career was definitely in question after his last shoulder surgery.
  • The Dodgers and Brewers have flipped scripts this NLCS as the Dodgers were known to have a better rotation, but the Brewers were known to have a stellar pen.  Instead the Brewers’ rotation has put up a 1.29 ERA this series while the Dodgers rotation has an ERA a little over four.  On the contrary the Dodger bullpen has posted an ERA of 1.25 while the Brewer bullpen has an ERA of 3.74 in the NLCS.
  • As bad as the Dodgers have been with runners in scoring position, the Brewers have been even worse.  The Dodgers have hit .233 with runners in scoring position but the Brewers have hit almost one hundred points lower with a .143 batting average.

  • The start time for a possible game seven has moved earlier by an hour due to the Red Sox closing out the Houston Astros last night.  The start time was originally scheduled for 6:09 PM and it has been moved to 5:09 PM.  Hopefully no game seven is needed and the Dodgers get three days off prior to the World Series.
