Team Friendly Cost

Trevor Bauer is under control through arbitration for the 2019 and 2020 seasons.  In 2018, Bauer made just over six million dollars and while that price tag is going to go up and likely double for 2019, it would still lock Bauer in for a team friendly salary and even his 2020 salary should be team friendly for a top-tier starter.  Although most expected the Dodgers to reset their tax penalties and splurge this off-season, that still is yet to be determined if they truly spend “big”.

The Dodgers have Rich Hill, Alex Wood, and Hyun-Jin Ryu entering free agency after the 2019 season so while the Dodger rotation is currently stocked with options, some of those options will enter free agency or even retire after next season.  Bauer would give the Dodgers four stellar arms locked in for at least two seasons in Clayton Kershaw, Walker Buehler, Julio Urias, and Bauer.
