The Dodgers and the rest of baseball are looking to crank the hot stove back up after rumor-filled winter meetings.  Corey Kluber still remains a possibility for the Dodgers.

Andrew Friedman continues to look for ways to improve the Dodgers and one area he’s been rumored to be seeking help for, is the starting rotation.  Kluber remains a possibility for the Dodgers as the Indians are still talking to teams about dealing their ace.  The Dodgers are still trying to trade away some of their starting pitchers and outfielders so the Indians are a great trade fit for the Dodgers.

The Indians recently lost Michael Brantley to the Houston Astros so their need for an outfielder is even greater now.  The Dodgers have Yasiel Puig, Matt Kemp, and Joc Pederson to trade away, but the Indians will likely be looking at Alex Verdugo who could help them for many seasons to come.  Ross Stripling could also make sense for the Indians as he is a younger and controllable starting pitcher.

  • The Dodgers will have a new voice on the air and radio next season as Tim Nevertt has joined the Dodgers broadcast team.  Charley Steiner was extended for three seasons but will be on a reduced workload so Neverett will fill in on the radio for Steiner and on Sportsnet LA when Joe Davis broadcasts games for Fox.  Neverett was with the Red Sox radio team for the last three seasons.
  • Speaking on AM 570, David Vassegh mentioned that the Dodgers are likely 50-50 in their chances to land Bryce Harper.  The White Sox are the team offering the most money and years, while the Dodgers are trying to get Harper on a shorter term deal.  It remains to be seen if Harper is going to choose money or winning.
  • Farhan Zaidi has apparently begun to poach some former Dodgers as the Giants are close to a deal with Pat Venditte.  The infamous switch-pitcher did well with the Dodgers this past season pitching to a 2.57 ERA.  He also had a solid season with the Oklahoma City Dodgers and will look to crack the Giants’ bullpen.

  • Major League Baseball is working on an agreement that would allow Cuban players to be posted in a similar format to the Japanese posting system.  The Dodgers have signed several Cuban players over the years like Yaisel Sierra, Yasiel Puig, and Omar Estevez so this would pave the way for more Cuban talent to make its way into the big leagues.  While the deal is still being ironed out, this is a big story to watch.
