Yangervis Solarte

Next up on the possible Dodger backup infielder list is another former Padre in Yangervis Solarte.  Solarte played with the Blue Jays last season and hit .226 with 17 home runs.  In 2017, Solarte hit 18 home runs so he can provide pop off the bench if the Dodgers were to sign him.  Although he hit just .226 last season his .233 BABIP suggests that he had some incredibly back luck in 2018.  Especially when you factor in that he struck out just 14% of his at-bats.

Yangervis is another utility player who has seen work all over the infield and a little bit of the outfield.  He profiles best at third base or second base defensively and would see most of his work at those two positions.  Being a switch hitter, Solarte would be able to pinch hit from either side of the plate but has been better as a left-handed hitter where he has hit 37 home runs over the past three seasons. Yangervis Solarte would be another good veteran clubhouse guy the Dodgers could add to their roster as a backup infielder.
