Dodgers: Weekend Prospect Review from Spring’s Openers

I did it again.
Stetson Allie is on my prospects to watch list for a third time now and I still do not regret it.
Allie made his spring debut under Saturday when he went an inning. The 27-year-old pitched a perfect inning and did not strike anyone out.
More from Dodgers Way
- Dodgers might find their next Tyler Anderson with this free agent target
- Former Astro seemingly takes uncalled for shot at Cody Bellinger after Cubs deal
- Are Giants falling off and joining Dodgers at back of Carlos Correa chase?
- Dodgers’ 2023 lineup without Trea Turner isn’t as impressive as it should be
- Don’t hold your breath on Dodgers making Justin Turner decision soon
Again, like Dustin May in the last slide, there were better and more impressive performances over the weekend but Allie’s story to pitching will almost always land himself on this list after a clean outing.
His fastball reached 99 mile per hour over the weekend, one of the highest velocities seen in both Dodger contests. His breaking stuff still needs work but the potential is 1,000 percent there for Allie who could very easily be an emergency go-to in 2019 should the Dodgers need relief help in the big leagues.
This spring will be Allie’s opportunity to prove he can be a reliable pitcher and as the pre-season campaign continues, don’t be surprised to see Allie in some high leverage roles. The Dodgers are going to truly test what he is made of on the mound.
As for a quick scouting report, there was not much to take away from his weekend appearance. His fastball looks great and complimentary pitches are fine. As the offseason goes on, we will need to talk a close look at his control, a struggle point in the past.

Camp is fully underway for the Dodgers. Clarity on where players belong will soon become clearer but for now, watching the system perform with the big leaguers will be very interesting.
