The Dodgers and the rest of the league (except the A’s and Mariners) will begin their 2019 seasons tomorrow. Here are our staff predictions for awards and the World Series winner.
With opening day tomorrow, we wanted to continue our Dodgers Way tradition of predicting the award winners and the World Series winner. Here are the picks for NL and AL Most Valuable Player:
NL MVP
Michael Wittman – Nolan Arenado
Jack Trent Dorfman – Manny Machado
Hector Ponce – Corey Seager
Jason McClure – Nolan Arenado
Michael Sloniker – Paul Goldschmidt
Mary Jo Maldonado – Nolan Arenado
Jacob Rudner – Nolan Arenado
Nolan Arenado was the favorite to win the National League MVP award according to our team and Hector picked Corey Seager to bounce back in a big way and take home his first MVP award in 2019. Jack picked the man who replaced Seager last season to make a big impact in San Diego and win the NL MVP award while Michael Sloniker thinks a formal nemesis takes home the NL award in Paul Goldschmidt.
AL MVP
Michael Wittman – Mookie Betts
Jack Trent Dorfman – Jose Ramirez
Hector Ponce – Mike Trout
Jason McClure – Mike Trout
Michael Sloniker – Mike Trout
Mary Jo Maldonado – Mike Trout
Jacob Rudner – Mookie Betts
The heavy favorite to win the American League MVP award by our staff is Mike Trout. Now that he is settled in with a hefty contract extension, most of us think that he will reward the Angels with another MVP caliber season. Last year’s AL MVP award winner Mookie Betts received two picks in our predictions while Jose Ramirez also was picked once.
