Tulsa Drillers

The Tulsa Drillers are also coming off a championship season after winning the Texas League title in 2018.  Much like the Quakes, the Drillers will return a large part of their title team with eighteen returning players.  Dustin May, Keibert Ruiz, Gavin Lux, and DJ Peters are some of the main returners who will make up a very talented roster.

While half the roster could be prospects to watch on a very talented roster, these are the three I will be watching the most:

Dustin May:  The Dodgers’ number three prospect has really put himself on the map over the last year.  In 2018, May pitched to a 3.39 ERA between the Quakes and Drillers.  Seventeen of those starts came with the Quakes.  After showing impressive poise and stuff this spring, May is on the fast track to join the Dodgers by the end of the season.

Keibert Ruiz:  This is another obvious but necessary pick like Dustin May.  Ruiz is the Dodgers’ catcher of the future and if he has another solid season he should be ready to compete for the big league starting catcher role next spring.  Last year he hit .268 with twelve home runs and if there is something he needs to work on, it is hitting from the right-hand side as he hit just .238 with one home run last season.

Marshall Kasowski:  The Dodgers’ bullpen has struggled to start the season and if Kasowski post another strong campaign he could be a call up later this season.  The 6’3 right-hander has a high over the top delivery and throws in the mid 90’s.  He also features a plus curveball and a decent changeup.  Combined between his stops at Single-A and Double-A last year, he held opponent’s to a .136 average and struck out a whopping 111 batters in 64 plus innings.
